World Association for Public Opinion Research Conference to Take Place in Russia for the First Time
From September 15 – 17, 2016, the World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR) Regional Conference ‘Survey Research and the Study of Social and Cultural Change’ will take place at HSE.
During the three days of the conference, over 100 scholars and professionals from 20 countries will discuss the most recent technologies for surveys, the specifics of election polls, and the use of Big Data in business and research, as well as the problems and potential for cross-cultural studies. The conference has been organized by the Laboratory for Comparative Social Research and WAPOR.
‘Annual regional WAPOR conferences are big events for the sociologist community, and every year, WAPOR chooses a new country to host them. This year the conference will take place in Russian for the first time. And for us, this is a very important step, since WAPOR is a professional association which brings together researchers from all over the globe and sets the standards for their work’, said Eduard Ponarin, Head of the Laboratory for Comparative Social Research.
‘The conference attracts experts in data collection methods and various problems in sample building, as well as those who use this data, such as professionals in information analysis or social theory. This combination of theory and the practice, according to the organizers, is a good way to look at the research process from various perspectives in order to foster a dialogue between ‘field’ researchers and the academic community’.
Registration for the conference is available until September 10, 2016.
Address: 9/11 Myasnitskaya Ulitsa.
