10%

is the minimum share of accidents with victims that are not accounted for by Russian traffic police statistics.

For various reasons medical organizations that record traffic accidents do not include, for example, accidents that occur during motor rallies and motorcycle training; tragic cases that take place during trench digging, logging and agricultural work; suicide attempts using transport; as well as collisions involving cyclists and pedestrians.

These data are presented in an article by Timur Fattakhov, research assistant at the HSE Institute of Demography, entitled ‘Sources of Information on Accidents and Accounting of Road Traffic Injuries in Russia’.
