Results of the HSE International Competition Announced

726 participants received certificates of achievement (winners’ diplomas), and more than 200 have already become HSE students. This event is one of the largest and most recognised projects of HSE University, which allows participants to gain university admission with a full or partial scholarship. Registration for the competition in Russian is already underway. Soon, registration for the HSE International Olympiad in English (INTO HSE) will kick off.

The HSE International Competition in Russian is held in two formats: online and on-site. The online format allows students from the most remote corners of the world to test their intellect for a place at HSE University.

Foreign citizens who are 10th–11th grade students (11th–12th grade for 12-year programmes), students in vocational education, and graduates up to 25 years old are eligible to participate in the HSE International Competition. Participants can choose up to seven out of sixteen fields, including IT, mathematics, design, journalism, psychology, biology, law, and others. Every school student who participates in the competition is a potential applicant and student of HSE University.

Ekaterina Belousova

Ekaterina Belousova, Deputy Director of the HSE International Admissions Office and Manager of the HSE Global Scholarship Competition, emphasises that the competition is not only a tool for recruiting international students to HSE University. ‘Primarily, it gives schoolchildren the opportunity to understand what interests them most, functioning as a form of career guidance. For many participants, this competition has been an excellent opportunity to showcase their talents, and HSE’s task is to help nurture and develop them,’ she says.

Alexander Deev

‘The HSE International Competition is quite multifaceted. We continuously involve new categories of participants in the HSE Competition movement. This is why we created the entirely English-language HSE International Olympiad, or INTO HSE for short. Even though the project is young, we are actively expanding the geography of participants: next year we are planning to hold the Competition in Vietnam, Ghana, and other countries,’ says Alexander Deev, Director of the HSE International Admissions Office.

In 2024, 7,000 people from more than 70 countries, ranging from Japan to Peru, applied to participate in the HSE International Competition 2024.

726 participants received certificates of achievement, and more than 200 have already become HSE students.

The most popular subjects are quite traditional: Mathematics, Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication, IT, International Relations, and Psychology.

Starting this year, INTO HSE is being held separately, so stay tuned for the registration opening announcement.
