Primary results of the field study on the problems of interethnic relations in Moscow and Crimea

On June 23 Zubova D.M. and Kodja E.A. took part in the "Culture matters" research seminar with the report on "Primary results of the field study on the problems of interethnic relations in Moscow and Crimea".

Moscow as the capital of the Russian Federation attracts a large number of migrants. The existing reality puts the task of the indigenous inhabitants of the metropolis to adapt to ethno-cultural diversity. In the first part of the report, the primary results of a qualitative study of the perception of Muscovites of various aspects of the migration situation were considered. Interviews of 26 respondents were conducted with the support of models and theories of cross-cultural psychology.

In the context of globalization, the problem of preserving cultural diversity is more urgent than ever. Transfer of culture to succeeding generations, preservation of language and traditions are some of the problems facing ethnic minorities today. Within the second part of the report, the results of 10 interviews with Crimean Tatars were presented and possible connections of multiple identities and perception of the future were considered taking into account the specifics of the Crimea.
