Eleven master’s programme students from Russia and other countries, such as the USA, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan, participated in the international HSE summer school ‘Management in Emerging Markets: Trends and Strategies’.

Kenneth Pinnow, Associate Professor of History from the University of Pittsburgh has been specializing in the history of Soviet Union and Russia for a nearly three decades. His current research interests are medical ethics and human experimentation in Russia and the USSR andearly Soviet criminology. He shared his impressions on the Summer School organized jointly with the Faculty of History of the HSE Saint-Petersburg Campus.

Laboratory for Comparative Social Research of the National Research University Higher School of Economics has organized the 3d LCSR Summer School on “Multilevel Confirmatory Factor Analysis (MCFA) and Multilevel Structural Equation Modeling (MSEM) in MPLUS”. The main course in the LCSR Summer school will be held by professor Hermann Dülmer. Urban Activism as an Ideology
In July 2013, The HSE's Graduate School of Urban Studies and Planning hosted its first summer school on promoting urban activism. The school was attended by international experts, including the architects Stefan Retich, professor at the University of Bremen, Janine Walter from Berlin, and Lukasz Pancewicz from Gdansk. History in the View of Young Russians and Americans
On July 3–13, 2013, an international summer school ‘Russia between the Past and the Present: Russian Politics, History, and Culture in Comparative Perspective’ took place in Saint Petersburg. The event was organized by the HSE Saint Petersburg Faculty of History.
HSE and Shanghai University sign a new cooperation agreement
The HSE and the ECNU - East China Normal University in Shanghai have agreed on a mutual student exchange programme. Documents were signed by Sergei Karaganov, Dean of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE, and Feng Shaolei, Dean of the Faculty of Advanced International and Area Studies at ECNU at the closing ceremony of the III International Russia-China Summer School on International Relations, “Individual and State Responsibility in the 21st Century”. Zhao Gochen, the Plenipotentiary Minister Advisor on Education at the Chinese Embassy in Moscow, was also present.

A Strong Side of Public Policy is Debate
The popularity of this year’s Winter School at the HSE Department of Public Policy can be seen in the numbers. 72 international participants applied for it on time, and 17 more sent their applications in after the deadline.
Public Policy: Winter School in English
On January 27th 2013, an international winter school organized by the HSE Department of Public Policy opened just outside Moscow. It brought together prospective students of the master’s programme on Political Analysis and Public Policy.
