For the second time, HSE University in Perm has held SaWalk—a quest walk dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Perm and the city’s history and culture. More than 170 participants from 37 teams took part in this large-scale event.

Shweta Sikhwal, from India, is a research assistant at the International Center for the Study of Institutions and Development of the HSE University Institute for Industrial and Market Studies. In a seminar on May 26, 2023, she presented her paper ‘Can machine learning models provide a better forecast of money demand? Evidence from the Indian economy’ as part of a series on ‘Institutional Problems of the Russian Economy’. Shweta spoke to the HSE News Service about the seminar, her PhD research, and her experience of life in Moscow.

Six men’s teams and two women’s teams made up of international students from 30 countries took part in the first ever HSE Inter Football Cup. The event was organised by the Support and Career Centre for International Students and Alumni, the Department of Internationalisation, and the Department of Physical Training.

The term 'language barrier' refers to any difficulties that arise when speaking a non-native language. Almost every person studying a foreign language has experienced this unpleasant phenomenon. The reasons for this problem include a fear of the unknown, a fear of mistakes, embarrassment because of one's accent, a fear of being misunderstood and much more. All of these problems are a psychological component of the language barrier. The HSE University Art and Design School and the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University, in collaboration with the Sergei Parajanov Museum and the Artists' Union of Armenia, have announced an open contest dedicated to the centenary of Sergei Parajanov’s birth. The contest starts on March 7.
